THE POUCH CLIP

There are several websites by ostomates for ostomates.  Their are also websites written by doctors and surgeons which deal with bowel disease and surgery from the medical point of view of the surgeon and to a lesser extent the patient. What there doesn't seem to be is a website by an ostomate for the world in general, explaining in  plain terms what is involved and what it's like to live with a stoma.  In 1996, I had a panproctocolectomy resulting in Vesuvius, my stoma. Far from shying away from my condition, every day I celebrate the new lease of life which it brought me. Without surgery, I would have died. Fourteen years later  I am still very much alive.  This web site is my attempt to remedy to counteract the reluctance and obfuscation with which this subject is surrounded.  If I can persuade just one person suffering from Ulcerative Colitis or other bowel disease to do what is necessary, I will be a happy man.
